In 1977, Davis made her professional directorial debut working on a short film for the PBS series "California Gold," which aired in 1978. In 1981, Davis began working as a producer on the NBC series "Knots Landing," where she remained until 1985 when she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in feature films.
